Styling your day, your way – our tips for DIY Styling.
Posted on October 28 2021
Whilst we love co-ordinating and designing your magical day, one of the growing trends we are noticing in weddings is for couples to style and design their big day themselves, picking their own décor and putting it together at their chosen venue. With this in mind, we have decided to officially launch DIY wedding hire on our décor, table decorations, glassware and tableware, available all over the Central Coast of NSW. Our beautifully curated selections, handpicked by Jen herself, offer our couples a rare opportunity to have brand new, in season tones, colours and décor for themselves, without breaking the budget.
With that in mind, we have put together our top tips for DIY styling your own wedding and event to ease the stress and mental load.
TIP 1 – CHOOSE A THEME
Choosing a theme is an imperative first step when it comes to starting your decorative journey. With so many incredible themes, colours and ideas out there, once you select your niche, it makes the whole process a lot easier.
Once you have chosen a theme, Pinterest the hell out of it! Gather as many ideas as you can so you can form a vision in your head of what you want your day to look like. A visual guide is everything. Which is why we suggest…
TIP 2 – CREATE A MOOD BOARD
At Madden & Co Events we create mood boards for all our clients along with their proposals, so you can have a visual idea as to what we are dreaming up for your day. This helps you really understand what tones, textures and décor you want to include, as well as pick an overall colour theme.
Mood boards are highly underrated for creating beautiful ideas, but we can’t get enough of them! Particularly if you are DIY styling. With so many options and themes available to you, it can be incredibly overwhelming.
TIP 3 – INCLUDE WET WEATHER OPTIONS
When you plan and style your own wedding including wet weather options should be non-negotiable. Whilst we always hope for the best in terms of weather, to save you the stress on the day when you are DIY’ing, make sure you have alternative options in case of a downpour!
TIP 4 – LESS IS MORE
Often when couples decide to DIY their own wedding décor, it’s easy to get caught up in the spectacle and over decorate. When it comes to your wedding, less is more, and try and focus on 3 things that you absolutely must have and incorporate the rest to fit in with it.
TIP 5 – OUTSOURCE
If you can, outsourcing is one of the best ways for you to have a stress-free and perfectly styled wedding. Leaving things like major styling pieces, co-ordination and flowers to the professionals will not only make the lead-up more fun, but you know you’ll be in good hands.
We absolutely love the DIY wedding trend, which is why we are offering our bespoke collection available for hire. However, if it all seems a bit much, get in touch with Jen today and she would love to help co-ordinate and style your big day.
